Our Association is involved in two major projects that should (finally) come to fruition next year: – As regards the application for the inscription of the Cordouan Lighthouse on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the matter is now in the hands of the DRAC and the SMIDDEST, which have entrusted a study to a specialised firm, with delivery expected at the end of 2014…

Here is issue no. 5 of L’Écho des Battures. By browsing through it, you will get an overview of the activities organised this summer. If I refer back to my editorial of December 2012, it must be acknowledged that some matters are progressing faster than others. In addition to my remarks made at the general meeting, which you have all received, I therefore propose a progress update:
– the transfer of the Grave Lighthouse and its annexes to the Conservatoire du Littoral et des Rivages Lacustres is well under way, but will probably not be finalised this year. Numerous meetings and studies will still be required before the Conservatoire reaches a decision. We remain fully involved in this process, which should allow for a restructuring and extension of the museum in 2014–2015.
– a first phase of works at Cordouan, due to begin in the autumn, has been approved by the general councils of both riverbanks, the Aquitaine Region and the State. Only the Poitou-Charentes Region is, for the time being, refusing to invest in the preservation of the lighthouse, but I have not given up hope that it will change its position, particularly within the framework of the works agreement for the following years…
