The end of the year was marked by a decisive step: the validation, by the Committee of French Properties, of the application file for the inscription of the Cordouan Lighthouse on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This progress is the result of remarkable work carried out by the Ministries of Culture and of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, the SMIDDEST, and the specialised consultancy Grahal. It gives concrete form to a process initiated by the Association as early as 2001, aimed at having the Cordouan Lighthouse included on UNESCO’s Tentative List.

Thanks to the authorisation granted by the SMIDDEST, manager of the lighthouse, the Association was able to organise a V.I.P. day at Cordouan.
No fewer than 81 members enjoyed ideal weather conditions to spend an entire tidal cycle at the lighthouse. While the wind the day before could have jeopardised the outing, conditions ultimately proved perfect: generous sunshine throughout the day and calm seas accompanied this privileged visit.
